According to Harmonix's lead designer, Chris Foster, the idea of The Beatles: Rock Band came about during a chance encounter between MTV president Van Toffler and Dhani Harrison, son of George Harrison. Dhani, having been familiar with Rock Band, suggested a game based on The Beatles; both Dhani and Toffler considered the concept an unlikely possibility. Nonetheless, the meeting spurred Dhani into further discussions with Harmonix's president, Alex Rigopulos, sharing his ideas for the game. At ...

My cousin and I were talking last night about the psychedelic 'Tomorrow Never Knows' which lead into a converstation about how cool it would be if the remaining members of Floyd and Paul and Ringo were to sit down and talk about each other's music and their history together, if any. Today, searched for any info about a Floyd/Beatle meetings/recordings, and here is what I found.

You'll recall that Charles Manson's deranged "philosophy" was based on a warped admixture of Revelations 9 and the Beatles' White Album, particularly the tracks Blackbird, Helter Skelter, Piggies, Revolution and Revolution #9.

It was Manson's belief that the Beatles were communicating with him across the Atlantic through this and other albums, encouraging him to record his own songs.

Manson's belief in the coming Black Vs White race war ("Helter Skelter") was based ...

Whilst the basic track was successfully recorded on 4 February, Lennon wasn't satisfied with the feel of the track. Several innovations were tried, including blowing through comb onto paper and humming to add texture to the track, and the addition of a pedal guitar and tambora. In the end, according to Lennon, McCartney persuaded John to call in the services of Lizzie Bravo and Gayleen Pease, two of the so-called Apple scruffs (the female fans who collected outside the studio) to add harmony ...

She's 24 yrs of age and not a single person had ever mentioned that the most famous pop band that has ever existed sang a song with her name in the title. I thought that was odd.

By Piero Scaruffi

(translated by Ornella C. Grannis)

The fact that so many books still name the Beatles "the greatest or most significant or most influential" rock band ever only tells you how far rock music still is from becoming a serious art. Jazz critics have long recognized that the greatest jazz musicians of all times are Duke Ellington and John Coltrane, who were not the most famous or richest or best sellers of their times, let alone of all times.
So I am a big Beatles fan. Haven't heard a record of their I haven't liked (well, Beatles for Sale is alright).

I used to love Sgt. Peppers when I was younger, so I decided to give it a good listen through driving today.

Oddly enough, I was not impressed. Of course it is a good album, it's The Beatles, but they sound leagues ahead on Magical Mystery Tour.

The only song I dislike on the album is Being for the Benefit of Mr. Kite! I just can't listen to it.

As this forum is named after this beautiful song, let's discuss it already!

Some C&P info:

"Across The Universe" is a song by The Beatles that first appeared on a charity release in December 1969, and later, in modified form, on their final album, Let It Be. The song features John Lennon singing lead, who is also the primary composer (though, as with all Beatles songs written by John Lennon and Paul McCartney, alone or in collaboration, the song is credited to Lennon/McCartney).

Composition
