| Sadly, I've not found any video of Whoopee John Wilfahrt's orchestra. But let's be grateful for what we have: _________________ I don't do it for the money, babe. I do it to entertain people.-- Susan Boyle

| More sad news--there's no video of the Chmielewski Brothers Funtime Orchestra. Florian Chmielewski is former President of the Minnesota State Senate. Thus, he is often called "The Swinging Senator." _________________ I don't do it for the money, babe. I do it to entertain people.-- Susan Boyle

| Mary Klueh http://www.maryklueh.com/AlmostThere.htmI used to know her--decades and decades ago. There was a bar on Hennepin Avenue with a cheap hotel over it, and the hotel desk was up the stairs. She'd be playing in the bar, and I'd be working nights at the desk upstairs, with the electric bass down below gently vibrating the floorboards. She tried to talk to me a few times, but I was preoccupied studying advanced calculus (priorities, doncha know). _________________ I don't do it for the money, babe. | More like "Clay" or "Klee." As Bob figured out early, Minnesotans become contenders by first getting out of Minnesota. _________________ I don't do it for the money, babe. I do it to entertain people.-- Susan Boyle

| Now for something more contemporary, here are the Abdo kids. There are lots and lots of Abdos, and they are all totally cute. The boys started doing this with their dad when they were between 8 and 12, and now the boys are almost grown, and they let their baby sis play (dad is nowhere in sight, from the looks of this). Since the band was started by boys, of course they had to name the band "The Abdomen." But now, it seems, they have renamed themselves "Lynnhurst," which is the name of a park near that lake there with all the sailboats. _________________ I don't do it for the money, babe. | There used to be a clip of someone performing Talkin' Florian Chmielewski Picnic Massacre Blues, at the State Fair, but I can't find it . . . . _________________ The problem in defense is how far you can go without destroying from within what you are trying to defend from without.
