British, Pinz. Looking at her wiki entry, her mum's Irish folkie influence I imagine was strong, as were her dad's musical leanings. Google reveals that Kate sang this song on an album by the Irish musician Donal Lunny and that the song is called "Mná na hÉireann" which translates to "Women of Ireland".

I think the sense of the song is about the same as Frank Sinatra's "It Was A Very Good Year."
