Saw it at Stratford last night. A good play, by no means my favourite Shakespeare, but fun nonetheless.

Titus Andronicus

Catered very effectively for the contemporary Elizabethan taste for Revenge drama blood-and-gore. Did very well at the box office. Bums on seats.

In the Vincent Price Comedy-Horror movie THEATRE OF BLOOD, he plays a homicidal Shakespearean actor revenging himself on all the critics who have ever given him bad notices by murdering them in the manner of various grisly Shakespearean stage deaths.

Robert Morley gets his pet poodles served up to him in a pie. Razz

I'm not too savvy with my tragedies. I've only ever seen Macbeth and RoRo & J. I've seen zillions of comedies though. Twelfth Night being my all time favourite Shakespeare. I've also seen Merchant of Venice, not sure what that's classed as.

Midsummer Nights Dream, Merchant of Venice, Twelfth Night, Macbeth, RoRo & J. One for each year of secondary school. I actually got my essay on Shylock published in our school's arts magazine (a big deal when you're only a second year Smile and since it's only published once a year) I'm currently reading Hamlet as we start studying in in September. I do love Shakespeare, but I get so so so much more joy out of seeing the plays than reading them.

I'm gong to see Jude Law as Hamlet soon. I'm looking forward to it, though not as much as seeing Streetcar named Desire in the same place.

Merchant of Venice is an interesting one. In the first Folio is is classified as a comedy, and it follows that kind of formula with the tongue in cheek happy ending (marriage) etc. But of course, it's hardly remembered for it's humour.
