"That I am not a member of any Christian Church, is true; but I have never denied the truth of the Scriptures; and I have never spoken with intentional disrespect of religion in general, or of any denomination of Christians in particular." ~ Abraham Lincoln

Is that a shot at me? Cuz I'm not trying to be disrespectful to what you or anyone believes. I'm just copying-and-pasting quotes I think are funny or thought-provoking. Like these:

"What is to be, will be, and no prayers of ours can arrest the decree."
~Abraham Lincoln

"It is an established maxim and moral that he who makes an assertion without knowing whether it is true or false is guilty of falsehood, and the accidental truth of the assertion does not justify or excuse him."
~Abraham Lincoln

"Whenever I hear anyone arguing for slavery I feel a strong impulse to see it tried on him personally."
~Abraham Lincoln

"How many legs does a dog have if you call the tail a leg? Four. Calling a tail a leg doesn't make it a leg."
~Abraham Lincoln

You played Jefferson, I raised you Lincoln. If the shoe fits, get upset. Me, I think Lincoln's always interesting, even when I don't exactly agree with him.

Fair enough. I happen to be very interested in Lincoln myself.

Here's some more quote I just found that I thought were hilarious (in a 'it's funny because it's true' kinda way)! lol!

"The ability to quote is a serviceable substitute for wit."
~Somerset Maugham

"Only two things are infinite, the universe and human stupidity, and I'm not sure about the former."
~Albert Einstein

We could have used Somerset Maugham a mite earlier in this thread, right?

Ha ha! My thoughts exactly! Such a coincidence I happened to find that quote just when I've become so obssessed with this quote thread (or maybe someone's trying to tell me to think for myself instead of rehashing other people's thoughts for a change! LOL).
