H'm. Do you know "Kai Lung Unrolls His Mat"?

I highly recommend this book to anyone who likes literature - it's huge and comprehensive - it's too expensive for me to buy but I got it out of the library

Here's an interesting anthology/compilation/summary: Myths of the Hindus and Buddhists, Anana K Coomaraswamy & Sister Nivedita (Dover, 1967, reprint of 1913 edition). It includes retellings in English of the Ramayana, the Mahabharata, and other tales from the Puranas, Epics and Vedas, along with chapters on the mythology of the Indo-Aryan Races (sic), Krishna, Buddha and Shiva, with an interesting conclusion tracing their (philosophical) effect on Western literature.

It's bad enough that this area is so eurocentric, but on top of that, it seems fixated on the era post-anno Domine.

The Epic of Gilgamesh is chock-full of edifying revelations:

-- Read the true story of the failure to regulate logging of cedar trees in Lebanon;

-- Read how Eve was actually a prostitute hired by King Gilgamesh to corrupt the nobel savage;

-- Read the true story of the great flood brought about by an earlier stage of global warming, which created the great inland sea.

In Gilgamesh, the "prostitute" is in fact a "temple courtesan," which leads to the question, what temple if we're talking Eve as in Garden of Eden?
