So just to recap, "This Is It" is the name of a concert tour, a press conference, a movie, a song, and represents an ironic final slogan.

Apparently you'll have to settle for rough cuts of rehearsal out-takes that were never intended for final publication. The company is pushing it out there to make a final buck. Reference Hunter Thompson on the music biz.

I was led to believe otherwise. In the opening of the film, title cards come on screen that say the rehearsal footage was shot for a "making of" documentary for when the actual concert tour was released on DVD.

Whether the footage was meant for publication or not, I loved it! It was great to King in action behind the scenes king

There is only one King of popular music, and that is Elvis Presley. I'm just saying.

The Washington Post has given a thumbs down. Evidently it's not a good film for gub'mint bureaucrats.

Elvis is the King of Rock n' Roll, no question about it. But that's totally not the same as being the King of Pop - it's a completely different type of music.

Here is the thing: "Pop" is an abbreviation of "popular," right? And both Elvis and MJ fall into the category. Now within the category there is this group called "Rock and Roll" that Elvis falls into and is "King" of, as it goes. But what group does MJ fall into? MJ would be King of that, but he ain't "King of Pop"ular music. Ultimately I know what you and others are saying. The "pop" in "popular" has taken on it's own identity and that's coo. If that is what folk mean when the say MJ is King of Pop, then let it be. But, if what folks are saying is that he is King of Popular music, I say bullocks! Elvis, Dylan, The Beatles, and on and on are sooooooooooooo flippin' high above MJ. They are kissing the sky while Mickey is only touching himself.

And in the end, I don't care really. It's just fun to say mine is better than yours--and it is. And they agree with me.

The King has left the building...

^I agree, "pop" music has taken on its own meaning...it doesn't necessarily mean "popular" anymore. It's its own genre. When I think of pop music, I think something along the lines of '90s-boy-bands-type-of-music. Of all popular singers, Elvis was the King first, and therefore, he's the most legendary. But every king's reign ends sooner or later and the crown is passed to someone else, but even though Michael is the most modern of the "kings" that doesn't mean that he's as talented as Elvis Presley or the Beatles....but then again, who's to say that just because MJ was born later, it automatically makes him less talented or less revolutionary or less inspirational? Why can't there be more than one king?

I don't know about all that (as long as GNR is King of them all, call all what you will...Ha!). Should have an Elvis/Little Richard dukeout. If Elvis can connect (that Richard is a fast one) he would bang the heck out of Little Dick. Little Richard is King of the Woo! though. Heck...he might have invented the Woo! for all I know.

Jerry is The Killer. As we all know.

My favourite Jerry Lee story - he said HE was the King; Little Richard said, no, I AM THE KING. They were on the same gig, and couldn't agree who should be the top of the bill show-closer. Richard won the toss.

Sooo - Jerry Lee finished his rockin', stormin', total dynamite set ... then set fire to his piano. "Follow that, mother*******!" said he...

(Oh, yes - Little Richard invented the 'Woo!' for sure. It's funny to hear him talk about young Paul McC trying to do the 'Woo!', and coming out as the '--oo--'...)

I caught part of a show of his on KPBS. It was tribute show I guess because not only did Jerry sing and play, but others sang his songs while he played. I was stunned by his piano playing. There he was, looking old, and yet, his fingers were running up and down the keys as if we were some sprite young lad, limber and agile. And he sounded good too. There was one singer that stunk. I think it was the daughter of Ravi. She has black hair and a different last name. She just didn't fit.

Axloha...
