I am having inklings of the beginnings of some kind of belief in Jesus.....

I saw this tattoo on a girl's back on the train......

certum est, quia impossibile

I looked it up and it is a quote from Tertullian....
also this one

Quippe res dei ratio quia deus omnium conditor nihil
non ratione providit disposuit ordinavit, nihil [enim] non ratione
tractari intellegique voluit.

I also have been seeing ads on TV about Jesus which is kind of freaking me out....hehehehe Wink

those tv ads.
i haven't seen them myself but i have heard they are very 'in your face' and some people are getting annoyed by them.
so perhaps you should ignore them.

Well, recently I started watching TV - about 3 weeks ago....I watched Evan Almighty which was really funny.....during the ad breaks, an ad came up with a girl at a party gorging on fruit etc and making out with a waiter.....the next morning she got out of bed and walked to a church and was baptised.....by a cute guy underwater.....the byeline said something like 'live a double life - come to (somewhere in) Victoria lol.....

last weekend Torin was watching Toy Story and an ad came on which was very philosophical with scenarios that you are likely to go through during life - a very modern ad like the other one......I was on the balcony and it caught my eye....I watched a bit of it and after it said 'Jesus has answers'...

I am very susceptible to influences that seem coincidental.....part of my illness so all of this stuff recently has put me on a trajectory to investigate the New Testament further....plus Torin will be going to a local Catholic school next year.....

if you only knew.....

Well, your psychiatrist may be helpful with that susceptibility, but the Gideon Bible is everywhere, and it's free.

I revere my Bible thank you very much - you're not likely to find anyone more devout then me Johnny Mac and by the way the second Latin quote translates as......

For reason is a property of God's, since there is nothing which
God, the creator of all things, has not foreseen, arranged and
determined by reason; moreover, there is nothing He does not wish to
be investigated and understood by reason.

I came to God by a journey of fear and persecution - and Jesus says.....

And he said. "For this reason I have told you that no one can come to me unless it is granted by the Father."

John 6:65

Who's attacking your "inkling of a beginning of a belief in Jesus," ISN? Good grief, go right ahead. It sounds more like a full-fledged faith-attack.

I don't need your permission but thanks anyway....

sorry - I used to get a never-ending series of negative stuff (and by negative I mean quite evil - hence fear and persecution).....

I admit, I have been bombarded in the last few years with 'reasons to believe in Jesus' - it's a very delicate subject with me as I approach religion quite analytically.....

I appreciate your kindness Johnny Mac and sorry for getting a bit testy

We are all atheists for the vast majority of the Gods that have been created by all the cultures and societies on our planet. Some of just went one for one more God.

It's not a verbatim quote, but a nice saying of the great Richard Dawkins nonetheless. Don't you think?

Not to believe in a given God doesn't make you an atheist, if you believe in another one. Where does Dawkins get this shit?

He was just trying to use a bit of irony - and I should admit and add, that's not his greatest talent.

I have what they used to call Gideon's Disease...they may still as far as I know. I'm not even sure how I know this, probably stumbled across it on the net. I get these raised areas on my hands...knuckles/joints, like knots. Cists I guess it the correct verbage. I even have one on my wrist right now, and it causes me pain and restricts my movement when I play guitar. The lump is caused by fluid leakage from a joint. The reason it is called Gideon's Disease, the way they used to get rid of them was to take a Bible and smack it really hard, which would burst the lump under the skin, deflating the lump. I used to wait until sometime when I was drunk and whack the lump with the back of a spoon. But it hurt like hell, so I quit. I should probably just see a Dr.
