Do you remember the night? Waited 20 plus years for it. Just like that night, I have the chills and am a bit teary eyed watching it again. "No Floyd Without The Wright Keys." |

| hey woo! yes i remember. i saw it on tv though, sadly i was not there. i found this for you. http://vids.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=vids.individual&VideoID=11673381it wouldn't show the video for me but when i downloaded it onto my computer it worked beautifully. you might already have this anyway, but i thought i would share in keeping with the spirit. i hope the link works. it is a shame that 2 so talented men ended up disliking each other so much. sadness and yet so much joy and peace. and not particularly from live 8, from the floyd... cheers tatiana |

Thank you. I'll check later. Btw, I wasn't at the show. I watched on t.v. too. Frickin' MTV VJs cutting into a historic moment to talk about it being a historic moment was real loser bs.
The moments in the performance where the tears starting flowing: When Roger and Dave smile and both, at the same time, used there hands to mimic those two ballons. The other moment is when you see Nick taking in the beauty of it with eyes closed and smiling. The other moment is Roger's words about being back with his mates and about the other one who wasn't there--Syd. Man, it was glorious. But then the show ended and Roger had to tug Dave back from walking off the stage so all four of them could take their bow.
Then we hear about the fighting/tension during rehearsals. Then we get word Dave says he'll never perform with Roger again. Then Roger says the same thing about Dave. Tragic. Then one half of Floyd is touring around while the other half is touring around. Yeah. Tragic. More later. Listening to Echoes. No Floyd Without The Wright Keys. Thank you for the links. Aloha... |

| Hey, I dig that poster. Syds in the clouds. | Quote: | | tatiana wrote: | woo! no offence to you but you know, this is what i don't like about meeting new people - one minute you are minding your own business (listening to the music) and then you meet someone who has a shared interest (particularly with Pf as not many floydians seem to around anymore) and then whammo, all of a sudden , i am babbling.
it is good to connect with people... heaven only knows where everyone lives as this is the internet.... but it is so easy to babble on and become a bore.
and so as i go about my afternoon, i wonder did i babble and bore a complete stranger? my apologies if that has happened. |
No worries. I know where you are coming from. I get really cyber-hyper at times. And if you look around here, I've done a lot of editing because of whatever. So yeah, no worries. And that is coming from a dude who can trace his blood line all the way to the Tower of Babble. Or just ask other posters here and at ER, I'm sure you'll find someone who agrees it's true. Oh well.
So talk all ya want about Floyd. I still have a lot to discover. I got into the game late, even though I say I waited twenty years too see them together on stage again. (I saw them without Roger in the late '80s.) I was into them, then GNR and Bob took my attention away from them for awhile, a long while, then I fell back into them. Floyd is miles high and I have barely left the ground. There is some Floyd I haven't warmed up to, but I don't feel bad when I read that Floyd members don't dig this or that song or that album.
I was suprised to see that there wasn't a Floyd thread here all ready.
Two things to note: From my internet connection at home, I'm not able to watch vid. I use a local free-dial up service. But I do go places and watch the vids posted here eventually. So if I don't respond to a posted vid quickly, then you know the answer.
Second, I say "dude" a lot. I live in Southern Califonia, but raised (or reared) in Hawaii, so, yeah, that's the reason. Beach dude, you know?
Since you say "cheers" where I would say "Aloha," I figure you are from somewhere where folks say "cheers." Maybe you are from Boston. Naaa. Ireland? Scotland? England? Wales? South America?
| Quote: | ps. it is great to find another floyd person... |
If my cousin is right, we are a rare bred. Then again, he sometimes thinks Floyd are Aliens from another planet that will one day return to Earth. I hope he gets better soon.
One of these days, I will share a truly mind-bending Floyd story with you and folks here. It happened two weeks ago. We just happened to be at the right place at the right time and say the right things, even though we barely understood or spoke Spanish.

Aloha...

| i was supposed to see them in 1988 but didn't go because of a misunderstanding. i started out with bob, the stones, pink floyd, bowie and other similiar bands in the early 70's. then i got sidetracked with affairs of the heart and children. GNR and nirvana etc were interesting but not captivating. perhaps we are differant ages. anyway, now i have the internet and i am in heaven. i find pink floyd to be extremely calming. i have recently splurged and bought their whole cd catelogue (not that many becasue they split) and i am buying vinyl original from england via ebay. i use my mp3 and it is like the rest of the world just melts away. i strongly reccomend listening to them if you want to find a bit of serenity. they are not for everyone. especially, sometimes straightness makes it hard to listen to. but i am straight now and i find them easy and pleasant. it surprised me that no-one had started the pink floyd thread also, but i am not much of a leader so i just waited. cheers tatiana |

I had never seen this before now. It's lovely.
It is sad that Roger and Dave were divided those 20 plus years
It is sad that Axl took 17 years to make a new album (wasted talent).
You mentioned the Beatles. The Beatles and Elvis first music I remember listening too. As my uncle tells me, he was sold I was cool when I came flying out of my room, jumped over the couch playing air guitar while listening to my mom's Beatle 45.
In Hawaii, I never really listened to music. I know the stories of my friends who all grew up listening to rock records and rock radio, but those aren't my stories. There wasn't a rock station in Kona. Heck, there wasn't FM radio. And had you asked me I knew what FM and AM meant?, I couldn't tell ya.
It wasn't till late teens/20s that I discovered music like the Beatles--my first love. I used to listen to old 50s rock on the radio not really having any sense that there was anything strange about that for my young age.
Then GNR hit. And they hit me hard. Love them. Played them over and over. Not one friend I had back then like GNR.
Then Dylan came along and changed my life.
Was listening to Floyd during this time too. Really dig the Floyd
There was only a short window of time for me to discover music in a leisurely way. If I wasn't working, I was studying, or I was riding, or I was playing around outside.
Yeah...then there is AC/DC. Hell yeah, I'm a problem child. |

| woo!, i have visitors, i'll be back later. it is fathers day here in oz. but atom heart mother and obscured by clouds and the others leading up to dark side are what i call real pink floyd. i think the wall is very artisitc and the final cut is extemely emotional that only someone who has lost a loved one in unfair circumstannces can understand. and of course wish you were here is just a very good statement. but IMHO the first albums are the best and the sweetest to the ear. and here is a close up of the syd in the clouds picture from yesterday. actually there are people out there that don't even like pink floyd, they do not like the style of music, i guess. tatiana |
