I saw Cohen live last night. Great gig... I liked the way he did most of the songs better than the album versions.

It was hard not to compare the gig to Dylan. I mean, the guy is 74 and is another famous singer-songwriter. But the sound/mix was excellent. I could also hear every single word Cohen sang... Oh and Cohen COULD sing... Oh and he played for about 3 hours... Oh and they used a really cool organ that sounded amazing, nothing like a carnival organ... Oh and... Okay, I'll stop.

It's always a tad frustrating seeing live music in massive arena's, nonetheless, great show.

Trivia time:

His recording engineer/producer is from Minneapolis, she grew up right next door to the pinhed. I dated her a few times when we were both living the artsy bohemian life in New City (she already had an SO, so it was an old-friends kind of relationship). If I go through with my crazy idea of starting a record company, I'll have to look her up to get some pointers.

After an upbringing that included classical training on the flute and college in Minneapolis, Leanne Ungar moved to New York to study dance. Visiting a studio with friends, she fell in love with recording, and started her production career in 1972, working at Sound Ideas, New York. I can't tell if he doesn't like Leonard Cohen, or if he'd just rather not know who I dated in New York (both explanations are plausible).

I like his music, I do, but sometimes It makes my heart want to stop beating.
I was at a rave once when the DJ played a remixed version of Famous Blue Raincoat with a house drum and innappriate flashing lights. Spoiled rich kids with pacifiers, designer drugs, glow in the dark headbands, all wanting to hug me....Fucking tards. Good times.

Ah I see. No, I meant a New Studio album... (i can always hope).

No doubt there will be another (he's only 74) but he might have to catch his breath first.

There will be a new studio album, he will finish it after the last leg of this tour. But it's not clear yet, if he will do another tour after the album is out.

Fuck touring. No doubt he does exactly the same thing as the gig before. He should finish the tour then hit us with a top quality album. Prefably not one when he talks poetry over music too much.
