WOT A RECORD!
I remember getting it and listening to it over and over. It's considered one of the "lesser" early releases, and, all things considered, I suppose that's ture; but it makes you want to re-define "lesser."
It opens with "I'll Cry Instead"
"Don't want to cry when there's people there, I get shy when
They start to stare, I'm gonna hide myself away, ay hay;
But I'll come back again someday.
And when I do you'd better hide all the girls, I'm gonna
Break their hearts all 'round the world. Yes, I'm gonna
Break them in two, and show you what your loving man can
Do, until then I'll cry instead."Then comes "Things We Said Today"
"Someday when we're dreaming,
Deep in love, not a lot to say.
Then we will remember
Things we said today."And then "Any Time At All" and then "When I Get Home" and four straight originals that are driven by acoustic guitars giving some credence to McGuinn's claim that the Beatles were the originators of "folk rock."
Then the side emds with two great covers: Larry Williams "Slow Down" and Carl Perkins "Matchbox" (that were both sides of the single).
Side two has four songs from "A Hard Days Night" -- "Tell Me Why" "And I Love Her" "I'm Happy Just to Dance with You" "If I Fell" -- and then tacks on the German-language version of "I Want To Hold Your Hand" ("Komm, Gib Mir Deine Hand") at the close.
I also recall that the front cover photo was really odd; it had them in some impossible and sort of futuristic space:

I believe it was a set used for a Sullivan Show appearance. Cool graphic design, nice mix of colors....
