The only series that I have ever watched (briefly) had Will Young and Gareth Gates in the final. Young was not your standard pop idol performer and had something that made him a little different and unique. Gates was standard as they come, blessed with a stutter. Cowell backed Gates to win. The fact that he did this was a decent example of how much of a twat he really is. Young eventually won, and is one of the few winners of these programmes that is still selling records. Gates lost, and had sex with Jordan, and no doubt no longer has a record deal.
