Yeah, but it works placed where it is on the White Album. And it's at least as good as "Lily, Rosemary & The Jack of Hearts." _________________ Nobody can feel better than the man who is completely taken in.

| I think it takes place in the silver screen of the Sat aft movie matinees of the Beatles' collective boyhoods. The black hills of Dakota is straight from the Doris Day movie, "Annie Get Your Gun." |

I'm not at all saying that everything they realeased was of an exceptional standard - but there's nothing in the stuff that was realeased in their lifespan as a group that I go "That's reallt fucking horrible" to. Maybe a mild "Bleuggh" now and again but not much more.
And for the record: Ob-la-di Ob-la-da is afucking great tune! |
What a trip. As I was listening to Abbey Road today I remembered that I had read somewhere how someone couldn't stand Maxwell's Silver Hammer. I thought, hey, I dig this song, it ain't that bad. And now here I am reading old posts in the Beatle forum and come across another who digs the song too. Coo. So Bullfrog, you don't dig Monty Python, but you dig The Far Side and The Beatles, well, two out of three ain't bad as the saying goes. Smoke pot, smoke pot, everybody smoke pot...that's just wrong. |

| "Maxwell" is a fine song, from which we can also glean valuable insights into the British educational and criminal justices systems. _________________ I don't do it for the money, babe. I do it to entertain people.-- Susan Boyle

Considering it's kind of taking the piss, I agree. |

| I don't know why so many people hate "Maxwell's Silver Hammer", I love it! Such a dark grim song about a murderer who beats people (his girlfriend, his teacher, then a judge) to death with a hammer, yet it's sung in such a bouncy, lighthearted, upbeat way--very clever, imo. |

| Uh-oh. I'm not convinced that the motherless victims of the Yorkshire Ripper would agree with that assessment; Peter Sutcliffe's MO involved a ball pein hammer. I could well be over-reacting here because I was living in the north of England during the late 1970's and remember well the climate of fear.
